Solomon Grundy born on a Monday

Christened on Tuesday

Married on Wednesday

Took ill on Thursday

Worse on Friday

Died on Saturday

Buried on Sunday

This is the end of Solomon Grundy.

This nursery rhyme was first published in Victorian England. It was the starting point for the ‘Vessels (of Remembrance)’ series. It made me wonder who ‘Solomon Grundy’ was and what was left behind now he was gone.

For this piece I used the original documents from my family and changed the names.
