The idea behind this piece started when a friend moved into a house that had been owned by a shoe maker. The attic was full of wooden shoe lasts of various shapes and sizes. I choose to work with some of the wooden lasts, whose owners had had obvious deformities to their feet. The beautiful old shoe suitcase was found on ebay.
‘A mile in my shoes’, represents emotional baggage and how while we all carry it, it can eventually become ugly and distorted.
